Planting Grape Vines
Grapes happen to be one of the more surprising things I’ve loved learning to grow. Depending on the location and verity you choose; your grapes can have different characteristics from taste, texture and growth. Best practices before you put anything into the ground is to know its hardy-ness zones and the planting/growing season. Being in the low desert, we can typically plant most fruits and vegetables as long as our soil is healthy and moist (not wet) and we provide the climate needed for success.
Pruning will takes place before the last frost, typically the beginning of February.
Stick to natural fertilizers and follow any guidelines you’ve been given (10-10-10 NPK). I personally only add compost as a nutrition source.
Follow the steps below to plant your new vine and remember to have fun along the growing journey.
